3-EXECUTION

MODIFY
THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE AS APPROPRIATE:

3.01 INSPECTION
A. Inspect
concrete slab for tolerance and dryness, and report any discrepancies
to the general contractor.
B. The
concrete slab will be free of all debris.
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. Cover
concrete slab with 6 mil. polyethylene, lapping joints a minimum of
6-inches.
B. Install
first layer of sub-floor plywood in the opposite direction of the bamboo
flooring, ¼-inch spacing at all edges and breaking joints every
at 4-feet. Allow 2-inch expansion voids at perimeter, and all
vertical obstructions. The underside of the first layer shall
have 32 conical cushion pads per sheet attached 12-inch on center with ¼-inch
spacing between adjoining sheets.
C. Install
the second layer of sub-floor material diagonally at a 45 degree angle
over the first layer, allowing ¼-inch spacing on all edges and
breaking joints every 4-feet. Attach second layer of sub-floor
material with nails or staples 12-inches on center.
D. Install
bamboo flooring parallel with main playing court by nailing or stapling
approximately 12-inches on center. Allow space joints between flooring
strips for intermediate expansion in accordance with local humidity
conditions. Provide 2-inch expansion voids at the perimeter
and at all vertical obstructions.
3.03 FLOOR
SANDING
A. Machine
sand for a smooth, even and uniform surface.
B. Remove
sanding dust by tack or vacuum.
C. Refer
to manufacturer sanding and finishing procedures.
3.04 FINISHING
A. Inspect
floor to ensure the surface is acceptable for finishing and clean.
B. Apply
seal coats per manufacturer's instructions.
C. Paint
game lines as shown on drawing, between seal and first coat of finish.
D. Game
line paint will be compatible with finish.
3.05 BASE
INSTALLATION
A. Install
vent cove base to walls with base cement, screws or anchors. Miter
all joints at 45 degree angles.
